The Year of the Lady 11368, Gemmini/Delphinus (or ~May/June/July 2002 ev) Revision

Pagan Community Component

The purpose of this part of the TransPagan Consensus survey is to determine the approximate range of beliefs on various internal issues within the Pagan Community.

Special Note:
In this survey subsection we are not repeating the identifying questions that are on the introductory page of the survey, other than the name, identifying phrase and eMail address. With this information we will be able to attach any supplementary sections that you submit to your completed Introductory section response. If you got to this part of the survey without seeing the introductory page, please return to it by clicking here:

TransPagan Consensus Survey Introduction

It may be useful to open Garden of Life's Definitions Page in a separate window for help on any of the terms in this survey. We have tried to make this survey and our definitions page as NeuroLinguistically Neutral as possible, but as modern physics teaches us, that only goes so far.
We also have position papers on some of the discussed issues, if you're interested in our take on them. We have tried to separate our own teachings, forms and techniques from the wording of the survey questions. We may provide links next to some of the questions, that you can click on if you want to see our comments on that issue.

The establishment of a viable TransPagan Forum would be of great benefit to all of the Earth-Centered-Spirituality-Traditions. Such an organization could help us learn to work together towards those goals that we have in common. It might be difficult but should be possible if the proper safeguards are in place, to create such an entity without loosing or curbing the Diversity which is an integral and ensouling part of the Coalescing Pagan Community.

A TransPagan Forum could also effect venues for Pagan Traditions to learn more about each other and communicate with each other on neutral ground.

Comments:

It would be beneficial for the disparate Traditions that make up the Earth-Oriented-Spirituality Community to emphasize working together toward those important and accomplishable goals which we do hold in common, rather than allowing our energies to be diverted by concentration on our differences.

Comments:

The development of the Pagan Community could be encouraged by various Traditions sharing their Ideas in as neutral a terminology as possible, so that a healthy, broadly inclusive and informed Pagan Consensus may emerge.

We are in the emergent transition phase of a new Aeon. We are on the brink of the passing away of old mainstream institutions and paradigms.

Education of Children will continue to be one of the most important processes to Civilization, whether in formal or informal settings. A TransPagan Forum could assist in our voices being effectively heard, as the new goal and evaluation systems develop within home type schooling and any Pagan private school organizations.

Comments:

The Establishment of Alternative Community Activity Centers would be a beneficial step both to a TransPagan Organization and to other New Aeon Institutions, as it would help us learn to work together, without loosing the Diversity that ensouls the Coalescing Pagan Community. This is especially helpful in such a transitional time, as many of the young adults who will be mainstays of our culture in twenty years, do not share their Spiritual Orientation with their parents or close relatives, as such Centers give them somewhere to go for Alternative Activities, and where they can have fun in a positive, safe and legal environment. It also is essential to the development of the Intentional-Community-Extended-Family-Tribe that will, most likely be the pre-eminent institution of the upcoming 2000 years.

Comments:

Care of Elders will soon become a vital concern in the Pagan Community, as the re-emergence of the Earth Religions is now old enough to have Elders. Therefore, appropriate Geriatric Care Facilities need to be established, in reference especially to creating an environment where our general views and beliefs are respected, regardless of our individual ability to insist on this being the case. An effective TransPagan Organization could benefit coordination of this process.

Comments:

As Pagans we have to deal with fears of persecution, both physical and symbolic. Discussion within the Pagan Community to develop a solidarity regarding professional, personal and/or social discrimination, could be facilitated by a well constituted TransPagan Forum.

Comments:

A problem faced by any religion or group of religions when becoming established, is that there is a risk of losing some of the intrinsic spirituality of the religion, as energies are diverted to organization. A TransPagan Forum could help Pagans transcend those limitations.

Comments:

Recognition of the Sacred Nature of Sexuality is an intrinsic issue to the Pagan Community. A TransPagan Forum could encourage latitude for institutional recognition of changing and complex human relationships and sexuality including monogamous, polyamorous, solitary, celibate heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, omnisexual and/or asexual.

Comments:

A TransPagan Forum could encourage a breadth of Pagan attitudes toward events, forms and techniques (Spiritual or otherwise) that may not seem to be serious. However, there is extraordinary value in the power of the Absurd and Satire to trick us into accomplishing evolutions of consciousness, perhaps evolutions which our day-to-day selves would believe impossible. The Absurd (or seeming Absurd) is also valuable simply for its own sake in reminding us of the intricacy of the awesome mystery that is this Cosmos.

Comments:

A TransPagan Organization could facilitate certification, resources and referrals of Pagan Officiant/Counselors for InterCircle, IntraCircle and/or Individual counseling within Pagan groups, and for Pagan and like-minded Individuals, not associated with a particular group, especially those having difficulty in educational institution situations or confined to medical or penal institutions.

Comments:

A TransPagan Forum would have the potential ability to help circumvent energy wasted in disputes related to doctrinal differences, sometimes termed "WitchWars". This is one of the only issues affecting the Pagan Community that is entirely within our control, the advantages to reducing the effects of such "WitchWars" are too numerous to list.

Comments:

Another thing that an effective TransPagan Forum could encourage would be a Pagan Professional Index. Such a listing could assist Pagans in finding Pagan doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, and so forth, who would share their general Consensus World View.
