current mainstream Society Component

The purpose of this part of the TransPagan Consensus survey is to determine the approximate range of beliefs on various questions related to the Pagan Community's interface with Mainstream Society.

It may be useful to open Garden of Life's Definitions Page in a separate window for help on any of the terms in this survey. We have tried to make this survey and our definitions page as NeuroLinguistically Neutral as possible, but as modern physics teaches us, that only goes so far.

As Pagans we have to deal with fears of persecution, both physical and symbolic. A functioning TransPagan Forum could represent the interests of the Pagan Community regarding professional, personal and social discrimination, at least to the extent of getting these positions out into mainstream society.

Education of Children, will continue to be one of the most important components of Civilization in the TwentyFirst Century. A TransPagan Forum could assist in Pagan Community views being effectively heard on issues in public education, as the new goal and evaluation systems develop in representing.

The Establishment of Alternative Community Activity Centers would be a beneficial step for Pagans. Centers would foster our learning to work together without loosing the Diversity that is at the Heart of the Coalescing Pagan Community. This would be especially helpful in transitional times, as many of the young adults who will be mainstays of Pagan culture in twenty years do not share their Spiritual Orientation with their parents or close relatives. These Centers could give these young adults somewhere to go for Alternative Activities, where they can have fun and learn in a positive, safe and legal environment.

Care of Elders will soon become a vital concern in the Pagan Community, as the re-emergence of the Earth Religions is now old enough to have Elders. Therefore, appropriate Geriatric Care Facilities need to be established. An effective TransPagan Forum could benefit coordination of this process with the existing institutions and agencies.

A TransPagan Organization could facilitate certification, resources and referrals of Pagan Counselors to provide counseling of Pagan and like-minded Individuals, especially in situations where they are having difficulty in educational institution, or are confined to medical or penal institutions.
